First Line Friday
First Lines Friday is a weekly feature for readers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, author, or prestige. We try to hook Readers with the first line, instead.
Psst, I found this in Becky’s Book Blog. Please go check her out!
Rules:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be a current read, ARC, TBR, or favorite read, close your eyes and pick a book) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
Celebrate? Who? Me? In 2020…
Hey, look… I get to go throw books at people again… that’s a huge win. It isn’t much but that little bit every week adds up. Plus my discount is baaaaaaaaaack!!!! YAY! There are so many books I have wanted to through at people. Plus, so many more that are coming out that need to be thrown!
Of course, that came with a hitch, last night, when the bookstore heist of the century was pulled off. Seriously. Kaz would have been proud. I was impressed. There was a precision to her movements like she had the cure to Covid, her entire family was dying and she wasn’t stopping. Plus the car had no license plate. I mean the cops came and they are still going to be caught. But it was impressive. Before I give you today’s First Line Friday.
- I have been waiting for two weeks to drop this one off on you. No joke. First, there were two reviews that I had to get out, that got in the way. AND THEN, I was so excited that I almost dropped it yesterday. Then I realized it was Thursday. Phew.
- I have to throw a nod to Mel @ Meltotheany because she is the only other person I’ve seen give a shout-out to the book I’m featuring today. I’m not saying that there isn’t anyone else that has, so if you have, I apologize. With my nephew attempting suicide, and everything, my blog hopping hasn’t been at all what it should be. It is just the only one I’ve seen, so please don’t take it personally. I was happy to see her return from a hiatus and noticed it in a couple of posts when she returned! Both posts are linked.
First Line(s) Friday
She couldn’t remember the first book she had eaten.
What it had tasted like, how it had felt- the scratch of it as it slid down her throat.
