Forest of Souls by Lori M. Lee
Welcome to my blog tour stop on the Hear Our Voices Blog Tour for Forest of Souls by Lori. M. Lee. Forest of Souls releases on June 23rd. If you have been hiding under a rock then here is a summary:
Sirscha Ashwyn comes from nothing, but she’s intent on becoming something. After years of training to become the queen’s next royal spy, her plans are derailed when shamans attack and kill her best friend Saengo.
And then Sirscha, somehow, restores Saengo to life.
Unveiled as the first soulguide in living memory, Sirscha is summoned to the domain of the Spider King. For centuries, he has used his influence over the Dead Wood—an ancient forest possessed by souls—to enforce peace between the kingdoms. Now, with the trees growing wild and untamed, only a soulguide can restrain them. As war looms, Sirscha must master her newly awakened abilities before the trees shatter the brittle peace, or worse, claim Saengo, the friend she would die for.
I was thrilled to be accepted onto the blog tour for Forest of Souls that Leelynn tagged me in her original tag for the book. For those of you who haven’t read this book yet, this tag is focusing on the shamans of the Nuvalyn Empire. And that’s all I’m going to say on that. Now, on to the rules of the tag because there are always rules involved in tags.

I can sit here and stare at this screen or watch Captain America: Civil War and not beat my own deadline. I could do that. So I’m just going to narrow my own playing field. I’m going to narrow it down like this- From this year… YA: 1. Adult: 1. To be honest, even narrowing it down like this, it was hard. Adult wise, I went with the guilty pleasure because, we need that right now, don’t we? And YA I went backlist (read this year). Just because. Le sigh. Adult releases 6/23.
Here it is:
Young Adult:
Girls With Sharps Sticks/Razor Hearts
Adult:

Well. Being as I’m watching Civil War, anyway. Go ahead. Give it to me. There is no other character I can put here. BUT HE’S NOT A SADIST.

Wait. These exist? I don’t read these kind of books. Unless you like, fool me into it, somehow. I suppose. I try not to though, really.
Actually. Just my luck. I recently read just this kind of book. Got fooled like that- but it is very rare….

A lovely choice to be had… The Sea... OK. That isn’t a “creature,” but since when do I play by the rules. Never. And we are getting to the airport in Civil War…

This question is so beyond unfair. But if you put a gun to my head? There is only one answer. The link… is to my review of the first book in the series, There Will Come A Darkness.
