Grown By Tiffany Jackson
Here is my full review of New York Best Selling Author Tiffany Jackson’s, Grown. It also updates the retrospect/homage to her career that I wrote when Let Me Hear A Rhyme released.
I know. I know. Like Captain America, I can do this all day. Talk about Tiffany Jackson. Gush over her new book, Grown (I have mentioned it numerous times but this link is to my Black Lives Matter post that I hope you will check out for a list of fiction and non-fiction books/authors), that is coming out in September. I’m blessed to have already read it, but HarperCollins has gagged… (I kid.. not gagged lol…)… politely requested to requested I not post a review until a week or so before or week of release) my review, until September. It will be a full onslaught, though.
I wanted to find another way (beyond featuring books I have already reviewed) to feature upcoming books that everyone can lookout for by Black authors. I am looking to do this on the regular. And what better way, than to kick it off with Ms. Jackson’s September release, Grown.
I want to thank Aubrey @ The Shelf Life Chronicles for giving me this idea. She did it on a Thursday. I figure it can work on Tuesday or Thursday, since they both start with a T. It is pretty simple.
I’m going to give you the summary and release date, along with the first line (in this case) and a couple of pulled quotes.
Grown (Goodreads Link) Summary:
When Enchanted Jones wakes with blood on her hands and zero memory of the previous night, no one—the police and Korey’s fans included—has more questions than she does. All she really knows is that this isn’t how things are supposed to be. Korey was Enchanted’s ticket to stardom.
Before there was a dead body, Enchanted was an aspiring singer, struggling with her tight knit family’s recent move to the suburbs while trying to find her place as the lone Black girl in high school. But then legendary R&B artist Korey Fields spots her at an audition. And suddenly her dream of being a professional singer takes flight.
Enchanted is dazzled by Korey’s luxurious life but soon her dream turns into a nightmare. Behind Korey’s charm and star power hides a dark side, one that wants to control her every move, with rage and consequences. Except now he’s dead and the police are at the door. Who killed Korey Fields?
All signs point to Enchanted.
Release Date: September 15, 2020
