- Today’s First Line Friday is completely different from any I’ve done previously. I’m proud of this change in pace. And I sigh of relief for those <ahem> who regularly complain about me adding to their TBR because I probably won’t but it is cool. Plus I’m going to give you quite a bit more than the first line but it is good.
- YES! That is My Chemical Romance and Harry Potter mashed together. Once again some brilliant idea I did not come up with but should have.
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for readers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, readers were hooked on a book by the first lines?
Psst I found this at Becky’s Book Blog. Please go check her out!
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be a current read, ARC, TBR, favorite read, close your eyes and pick a book) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
- Finally… reveal the book
I wasn’t able to speak until I was almost four-years old. I didn’t know this at the time, but apparently that’s insane. Most kids start to speak by the age of one and a half or two. So speaking for the first time at the age of four is like having sex for the first time at the age of seventy-five: You can do it, but no doctor recommends it.
My parents claim they weren’t too worried, but a four-year old who doesn’t speak isn’t normal. It’s the opening of a horror movie. They said I could understand what people were telling me, but I couldn’t respond verbally. I would point or grunt but couldn’t form any actual words. I was a shorter, less charming Mr. Bean…. “you made good eye contact with people and you were exceptionally good at miming.”
Okay, now that is a horror movie. A four-year-old staring you dead in the eyes and “miming” while repeating “Ma, Ba, Da” until blood pours out of his eyes.
Ok! Are you ready?
Seriously. How did I did I NOT think of these things?

Well I feel called out ????????. Although you’re right, I’ve no idea who this is so probably won’t be adding it to the TBR. Hope you enjoy it though!
HAHAHA! LOL I thought you might enjoy the break but if you look at the clip in my haul/new summer fling post– i wonder if it might change your mind… heh. probably not but its still worth the watch!
Well I’ll have to check it out now ????
I don’t know if it would make you add the book but at least you’ll laugh your ass off for a few minutes and that’s what it is all about.
I was trying to figure out what sort of book opened like that. xD I SHOULD’VE KNOWN. Now that I know what it is, yes, I can hear it in his voice and it makes perfect sense lol. I for sure need to read this when it comes out.
Bahahaha!!! I think this is gonna be so amazing but even better as an audible because well him. You know?
He’s doing the voicing for the audio, right? Because yeah, that makes a huuuuge difference.
Why yes… yes he is
I have no idea who this person is but those first lines have me kinda intrigued? Haha great pick!
OH LORD! Please either youtube weekend update or go to my last haul/spring summer fling 2020 post and look at the youtube clip I put in there. It will explain EVERYTHING!
