First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
Psst I found this at Becky’s Book Blog. Please go check her out!
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be a current read, ARC, TBR, favorite read, close your eyes and pick a book) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
- Finally… reveal the book
So this is the first time doing this on the new blog. Let’s see if WordPress the self-hosted version does any better in not screwing it up, eh?
Ordinary families look to Holy Days to gather and share a big meal and get rosy with ale and dance caroles and hear the news.
I like to think I’d know ordinary if I saw it.
At last year’s Christmas feast, there were three drunken fistfights, several black eyes, and an “accidental” lapse in courtesy that involved a plate of turnips in sauce. We left three days early, before Owain’s father could throw us out.
Ok are you ready ?????????????

The above?
Because it is Black Friday and I am working at Barnes and Noble.
Ok it is only my second shift in seven days. But. Black Friday. Pray.
PLUS It is kind of a fitting stance for the opening of the book, which fondly reminds me of holidays from my childhood… seriously <snickers>.

Coming March 2020 from Candlewick- Go Add It To Your TBR…
And another one bites the dust! Seriously I think I can blame/thank you for most of the recent additions to my TBR. Have fun working on Black Friday… I hope you don’t get too many crazy customers.
PFFFT! I was gone for like a month so seriously. You had time to recuperate! This one does sound like a blinder though! HAHAHA. Candlewick is coming up with some fun stuff that isn’t super long, either. So we will see. I figure it at least it’ll go quick because it’ll be busy, you know? Or at least I hope.
