It is Wednesday and that means WWW World of Words, hosted weekly by Taking on a World of Words.
What is WWW Wednesday?
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you plan on reading next?
Ok so this week is still going to be a little thrown off because of last week.
Just let me catch all the things up and next week will resume to normal- except the trucks will be here in a week and …
Then they will leave and I will drink heavily in an empty apartment– because mom won’t let me when she gets here.
Below is an approximation on my week because I did this on Monday- so I guesstimated
quickly eta-*I also forgot to schedule it and just hit send before my doctor’s appointment-whoops*
What did you recently finish reading?
And right off the bat- that is a COMPLETE lie.
I DIDN’T just finish it. BUT I did just write the review- and if you haven’t ordered Gravemaidens? GO – GO NOW. It is a MUST READ.
And spread the word like wildfire.
It would also be a complete lie if I said Liam wasn’t sitting right, RIGHT next to me licking his… you know. But my life right now…
ANYHOW…
WHY YES. YES I DID- last week… Ok not this week- but the review was this week and, and… AND HOLY WHAT THE MESS?
IT BLEW ME OFF MY FEET AND BOUNCED ME OFF THE ARCH (unfortunately not straight to Colorado Springs with all my stuff- because if Liam doesn’t stop he’s getting left here).
Aaaaand, apparently Becky didn’t beat me to it!
Now maybe I can stop lying, maybe, huh? Because HOLY HELL, YES!
Kingdom for A Stage by Heidi Heilig
Why yes, yes I did- And I – <le sigh>- the review is forthcoming- my feels are in the way- and I haven’t decided on the approach yet.
And before everyone goes and thinks I just love all the things- need I remind everyone of the recent reading lows? There was… Pivot, Verify, Memory Thief, a few DNFs I won’t mention and lord knows I’m happily forgetting something… and those were just the LOWS… there were a couple “ehs” in there…
So, yeah. I EARNED THIS- plus, again. I read Gravemaidens like a month ago, or more, and Guinevere’s Deception last week. So come at me bro… and even if it was all puppy dogs and rainbows… it is my site.
Yup. Game of Thrones. With a sabre… I blasphemed. On purpose.
What are you currently reading?
I’m just about finished…
Blog Tour Review and author interview Friday!
Author Interview and Review Coming!!!! Get Excited!!!!
What will you read next:
Ok- side note- for transparency sake-
I’ve already read Eight Will Fall but look for the review and interview with Sarah Harian coming up in the next couple weeks!
So when you see that in the “What did you just finish section soon- it will be a lie”
I need to read Kingdom for a Stage!
Yes! Yes you do. It is so incredible. I just dont know how to come at the review… stick with the book or take a personal angle. Theres so much going on right now I think there is a lot of static in my head. When things settle down, I think I will be able to make the choice.
I go back and forth depending on the book and the mood I’m in. I could blame my bipolar, but I’ve decided not to worry about it. I write the way I talk, so sometimes it’s going to be weird. ????
I feel you on that way. And lord knows the back and forth of this move is helping absolutely NONE of it.
I’m sure! Moving is exhausting.
It is odd how something you desperately want is so triggering and exhausting
I’ve just finished Lifestyles of gods and monsters! Literally, two hours ago???? Can’t wait to read your Friday post. And guess what I was going to read next? Fate of the Fallen ????❤
I can’t wait to read Ninth House!
I told Becky at Crooks Books and now I’m telling you … I want to know all about it! As you read like DM me… I want to know!
Will do! I can’t pick up my copy until the event next week, I’m hoping to finish all half read books by then so I can start it straight away!
Oh yay!!! I hope you have as much fun as I did!!!
Sunday post… lol…my mom wants to read life styles… say Kardashians and there goes mom lol. I had to move it to Sunday because of my blog tour post for Whar Makes us
I love the cover of What Makes Us!
I haven’t read any reviews but the overall stars on goodreads isnt fantastic and I dont know why. I would think it should be higher
Drinking heavily sounds like a good plan to me! I haven’t ordered Gravemaidens yet! Because … life. But I am! I will. Most definitely. :3
Please tell me Eight Will Fall was good, because I have that coming up. xD Also, yeeees, Fate of the Fallen! Can’t wait to see what you think, because I’ll be starting that one soonish, too.
Eight will fall is an incredible book that was so badly mismarketed that Sarah has spent most of her twitter life undoing the damage. She talks about it in the interview
Dang, that’s sad. I’ll have to check out the interview before I pick up the book.
But that’s the problem. What’s said is the mismarketing of quite a few books lately. All incredible books. I’ll give you an easy example bc there has been enough distance since I first read it. TWCAD. The marketing behind that book had LB and SOC all over it. There is no heist. There is no gang. The setting is inspired by ancient greece. There are multiple view points. I mean it is NOTHING like SOC except maybe in the magic system… and there are differences in that too. In writing styles there might be a few similarities. But seriously the comparison is completely off the mark. But TWCAD has seriously impaled itself into my heart and isn’t letting go. Jude is… … I just it is unfair to a solid 6-12 books (8WF) included that are going through this. And it needs to stop. Not because I dont think anything should ever be compared to SOC but because these books and authors deserve better marketing- that is lazy marketing.
Ok. Steps off soap box.
I whole-heartedly agree with you. I’ve definitely picked up books because of their comps and walked away disappointed because no, not even close. The books aren’t always bad, but you go in expecting one thing and that immediately sets you up for disappointment, at least at first, when you realize it’s something else. So much more unfortunate for the authors, who don’t actually have a say in this, as that can unfairly hurt them. =/
That’s what almost what happened with Nocturna. I was expecting one thing and completely got something else and if I wasnt able to completely switch courses I would’ve lost out. Because once I realized what Nocturna actually was? I was all in on it.
Yeah, I want to read Nocturna, but I’m pretty much just … avoiding reading anything about it until I get a chance to actually read it myself, so I have ZERO expectations going in. xD
Makes sense to me. ????
You definitely beat me on your GD review, and Ninth House seeing as I haven’t started it yet… but not long now ????
I’m glad you liked the review. It is always fun to see how others who have read the same book see your reviews. I wasnt sure how the unreliable narrator angle I picked up would go over as an idea in YA. But I didn’t know how else, for me, to put it. I’m sure some will think I’ve lost it. Kiersten white liked the post but lord she might have seen the headline and thought what drugs was she on lol.
And like I just said down below… I want all the reactions to NH!
No I definitely agree with the unreliable narrator bit, and I have seen others describe it the same way.
I’m still reading Darkdawn but I’ll let you know as soon as I pick up NH ????
Yay!!!! On all three parts of this post!!!
Well except that you are reading darkdawn and I’m convinced it is being kept from me
Haha this was probably the funniest WWW I’ve ever read!! I love seeing pictures of your cat ????
…. Now if only i could get that God awful formatting structure fixed. Mercy it looks like a Kindergartner with no special relations
