First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
Psst I found this at Becky’s Book Blog. Please go check her out!
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be a current read, ARC, TBR, favorite read, close your eyes and pick a book) and open to the first page.
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
- Finally… reveal the book
One of these tourists is about to die.
They flock to the Navy Pier… but here, they become hoarders of magnets and sweatshirts and shopping bags plastered with Chicago emblems. They eat Dots ice cream, take pictures of the new Lakefront mansions, and ignore the warnings about walking in groups fewer than four.
They’re easy targets, all of them.
Ok are you ready ?????????????

Every Stolen Breath By Kimberly Gabriel
Ooh! This one sounds good.
Doesn’t it? Apparently the author has asthma and the flash mobs that were happening around when she wrote it along with her asthma were the inspiration for it.
Well that’s made me want to read it even more!
And there you go. I should send you the ARC when I’m done. One less thing to pack. How much is it to send a book to the UK?
Hah I’m pretty sure it’s like $30 so might not be the best idea… I appreciate the thought though ????
FRI-YAY!!!
