I was nominated by the lovely, Kiera @ KierasBookishThoughts! Thank you lady!
The rules are simple:
- Display the award logo on your blog
- Thank the person that nominated you
- Answer the 11 questions given to you
- Nominate other bloggers and give them 11 questions
- What author do you own the most of?
Um uh… Including the diary Leigh Bardugo put out? I have four by her, I believe. The only book I bought for myself the past year was King of Scars. The boy bought me the diary. So that would be that. I’m sure that was a shock.
2. Do you have more hardback or paperback books on your shelves?
The library puts that at hardback by a long shot.
3. If you were on a desert island and you could only bring one thing what things would you bring?
The boy but he doesn’t feel that way so wouldn’t come.
4. Who is your celebrity idol or crush?twised
Idol? Nikki Six since I was like 16. Crush? I don’t know that I’ve had one since Steve Yzerman, which is hard as an L.A. Kings fan but hey respect is respect. And when he took that puck in the eye and kept going? He had my heart.
5. What is the coolest thing you’ve ever done?
Camped with Embrace on the coast of St. Ives
6. What got you into reading?
A Wrinkle In Time
7. Why did you decide to start a blog?
At the time I was still in education and I wanted somewhere to talk about Young Adult novels outside of the eIducation space.
8. What are your hobbies aside from reading?
Hockey, TV (comedy, twisted drama, horror- from the Walking Dead to the more well done horror like American Horror Story). I don’t watch a lot tv but what I watch, I’m hard core about.
9. Give a shout out to a blogger you love!
There is no picking just one. There are so many that have been super supportive over the past year. Some know everything and some know bits and pieces of what I’ve been going through. No matter where they fall on that spectrum, everyone has just been incredible. I can’t thank them enough. I can’t repay their kindness or support. No matter what happens over the next couple of months? I am just grateful to have everyone’s love and support.
10. What was the last book you purchased or borrowed from the library?
The last and only book I’ve purchased was King of Scars. The last book I checked out was Aurora Rising, which no I have not read yet. Damn you Kristoff and your 1000 books on my TBR.
11. Have you ever participated in a 24 hour readathon?
No
My questions
- Now that Kristoff dominates mine- Is there an author that haunts your TBR?
- If you use Edelweiss and Netgalley- how far behind are you?
- What book have you reread the most?
- Who is your book crush?
- What author were you most enthused to meet or most wish to meet?
- Would you ever want to do a blogger meet-up? What would that look like?
- How could the relationship between bloggers and publishers be better?
- What is the best and worst thing about the blogging community?
- What is your biggest goal for the rest of 2019 (blogging and personal if you care to share)?
- What is your most embarrassing bookstore haul?
- Of the books you own, what is the ratio of books read to books not read?
I nominate
I tried to choose smaller bloggers, like me, with less than 500 followers
- Amanda @ Devouring Books
- Leelynn @ Sometimes Leelynn Reads
- Surbhi @ Books Untold
OMG! Thank you so much for the nomination?! I really appreciate you so much <3
????
I didn’t know that you were a hockey fan! Also, I totally wasn’t shocked by the Leigh Bardugo answer. It’s like all of his books look amazing, but I haven’t actually read any of them yet to confirm that suspicion. I did one of these a VERY long time ago. It’s funny… I was just thinking about what I was going to do to fill some Monday’s on the blog and I actually have quite a few tags that I really need to catch up on so your nomination really reminded me of that.
This was the first season I didny have center ice since it first hit the air and I sat on the floor just flipping through the channels in disbelief that I was in brooklyn watching the the Avalanche play the Flames or whatever other Bumfuck games were on. So I havent talked about it much. But yes I have been married to the Kings for I dont know? Just over 25 years now? I hate Gretzky so don-‘t even bother.
Anyone who is shocked by Bardugo isn’t paying attention. Lol. Although Schusterman would be tied if I had more money. Actually a few authors would be.
Well I’m glad I could provide a wake up call!
Lol ahh that’s funny! I am big on football, but watch hockey really sporadically. I’ve seen a few local games with our no name team and love going to the games more than watching it on TV.
I have a lot of books that I got a long time ago that will probably take majority. I will have to look into it..
Hey, did you ever look at that OTSP Secret Sister thing that I linked you to? The sign ups close on the 23rd. I haven’t decided if I’m doing the pen pal level or the 5 dollar level, but I think it will be a cool way to get to know another book blogger.
I havent had a chance with everything going on. This is my distraction from the urgency of everything else. I do everything I can and then while I have to wait, I do this.
I totally get that. I think that’s why I dove so deep into the book world after I got diagnosed with PTSD… It’s just such a lovely escape and easier to live in the worlds of books than my own sometimes. You might want to check out the Secret Sister thing. It’s basically a cheer up club with book bloggers. They send letters and cards for 6 months and you get to know another book blogger that way. There are monetary levels where there are also small gifts like books, a 5 dollar movie or candy. But the pen pal level really interests me. It’s a way to get to know other book bloggers and also have support through hard days. You should look into it. I’m really excited about doing it.
I’m so glad this helped you through everything. I can’t even begin to imagine everything you have been through and that support must mean the world. I appreciate you sharing the information. Hopefully if I can make things ok here I’ll be able to do the same????
Okay well just so you know the sign ups close on the 23rd for the Secret Sister thing! 🙂 I’m going to do it because I love getting mail and a bookish pen pal sounds really fun to me. Plus it’s something to look forward to, and I need things like that to look forward to in life.
Honestly I think a lot of the book community has used books to escape their issues, some more than others. I know a lot of bloggers personally that have found books as a great day to deal with their mental illnesses, or just hard days in general. I know that they help you as well! I think the value of that is so underestimated these days.
The book blogging community is pretty supportive and friendly most of the time and I’ve found the whole thing to be such a reprieve. But even before blogging when I was just reviewing… It really helped me when it was all I could do to just get through the day. It’s a huge thing for me during the nights when I wake up after dreaming something horrible to get my mind back on something else.
But Roxy was a huge blessing with my nights that I never expected. She comforts me and is so… attentive to what ever is going on with me emotionally and she always knows how to put a smile on my face. It’s like she can tell that I’m sad and she is like “Oh you’re sad? How can I make you laugh? How about I sniff your ear? How about a doggie somersault? Am I making you happier? Yes? Okay good, lots of kisses!” I love her so much.
I don’t know what I would do without the boys. They have always been there. No matter what!
I know what you mean! They’re truly the best support during hard times!
