I’d like to thank the Academy <pauses for dramatic affect and audience applause>
Just kidding!!
Although I will say that Liam took this opportunity to immediately hole Pavel and Gomez’s feel by 10%. He claims they have more to do with the award than I do and I really couldn’t argue.
After Today I am also not allowed to use any messy bed pictures either. Liam says it is bad for their image and that I really should get mysack together anyway.
I was pleasantly surprised last week, when I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award!! by the wonderful Su from Books Untold ( Show her some love people, she has a very beautiful Blog.) I am so grateful for this nomination and all the love and support each one of you has shown to me in the past four months of my blogging journey… especially since Su was my partner in crime in re-creating our first original Game of Thrones Tag… and now we have plans for a second coming closer to summertime!!!
The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers by bloggers, in recognition for inspiring positivity and creativity within the blogging community.
*Please note that for some idiotic reason I did this on my phone which means one thing and one thing only. There are a tone of typos and grammatical mistakes that I will fix throughout the day each time I reread it. Then I will curse myself for being so stupid, promise myself to never post from my phone again and know full well I will. Just never reviews or anything with heavy graphics. There is a limit to my idiocy as hard as it might be to believe.
The Rules:
- Write a post about your nomination and the award.
- Thank the blogger that nominated you and link to their blog.
- Display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo.
- List the rules within your blog post.
- Answer the eleven questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you in your post.
- Nominate eleven other bloggers and give them eleven questions to answer. – I played with the nomination bit.
My Answers:
A bookish character with whom you will want to trade places with?
I am going to cheat because I don’t know if I want to trade places with anyone. I just want to be the seventh crow.
What do you prefer more; Standalones or a Series and why?
This is hard because everything in YA is a series, which after a while gets tiresome. If I had my dream wish? 1) Entire Series would come out both at once and individually so you had the choice to choose how you bought them but either way you didn’t wait a year in between, and 2) there would be more of a mix between stand-alones books and series.
What difference has blogging made in your reading life?
I think most know the number one difference. It is getting me through one of the hardest times of my life. Since I started blogging last summer my life has changed in many unexpectedly devastating ways that I never saw coming. I can honestly say this community has been my saving grace. Days I am not able to blog hop due to my part time work are very hard on me because this is my social life outside of my best friend.
Also, at a time when I am flat broke and barely making it month to month earcs and/or hard copy arcs, as well as learning I can bug my library to order books they don’t have (seriously- I didn’t know, has been a saving grace. Although I miss my book raids at the store, until that day hopefully returns, I don’t know what I would do with these options.
Which is the one book, that has influenced your life, greatly?
I can’t say it was a book. It was music,/lyrics. Even though I haven’t been able to listen to music for well over six months now for emotional reasons, I remember trying to dismantle and understand the lyrics to Fool on the Hill by The Beatles when I was six. SERIOUSLY. That was what created a love for reading. It was music. I dismantled everything. It started with what I was raised on and then it was songs that even as kid I knew would always be a part of me for some reason, and I needed to know why. Songs like Home Sweet Home (I’ve seen too many romantic dreams/sometimes nothing keeps me together at the seams) and so forth… and even as an adult… I always wanted to dig deeper. If there was nothing there, it was pointless. It wasn’t worth listening to.
What are some of your favourite bookish tropes?
I know I have ones I hate but I don’t know if I have ones I love. Is snippy/witty/sarcastic banter one? A good heist book that says it is a heist book to actually have a freaking heist? I am still waiting for one of these books comparing itself to Six of Crows to have a motley mess of a squad with an actual heist involved because that hasn’t really happened yet. Not sure if that answers the question but that is what I’ve got.
What are your thoughts on DNFing a book/ How often do you DNF a book?
I always give every book a fair shot but if it isn’t for me? I move it alone. There are too many books and too little time. Plus forcing yourself through a book that isn’t for you just causes reading slumps.
Unless I have a serious ethical issue with a DNF (which has only happened once) I do not post reviews of books I DNF. If it is an ARC I will go on NetGalley/Edelweiss and let the publisher know why I did DNF a book but I don’t do it publically.
I haven’t kept track of how often but I don’t think it has been a lot.
Which is your most favourite and least favourite movie/TV adaptation?
Favorite- Umbrella Academy
Least Favorite (every attempted adaption)- A Wrinkle in Time.
Do you have any bad book habits?I didn’t until reading romance became a trigger for me (not romance novels but romantic story lines in books). When they are not forced and make sense, I was missing out on some great books (take Dark Shores for instance). So now I have gotten to a place where I can handle knowing there is a developing relationship brewing and commenting on whether it makes sense or seems forced without reading the more steamy/lovey-dovey scenes… so, well I don’t. And there is my recently developed deep down dirty secret that started about a month ago.
How often do you pick up a book based on its review?
Rarely. I think finally listening to the Seven Husbands of <insert name I have completely forgotten> was the first in ages and I am glad I did. It was amazing. I was rejected for the Aurora Rising Arc <note bitterness abounds> but the library ordered it for me and based on all the five star reviews (literally there has been ONE negative review… the rest are all off the chain five stars) I guess technically that will be the next one. There are many series I would like to get to based on reputation but it’ll be a crap shoot if I ever do.
If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you choose?
Please I can barely read in English lol.
What are some of your favourite bookish SHIPS and why?
See above bad habits question lol… although there is We Set the Dark on Fire, which A) is not the ship I expected but once it hit, it was EVERYTHING!
Here are my questions:
1) How did you come up with the name of your blog?
2) If you could change the name of your blog, what would you change it to and why?
3) If you could have dinner with three authors (let’s narrow it to living authors) what would you serve? KIDDING! Who would it be?
4) Do you like books that poke fun at their genre?
5) Why do readers/TV and movie watchers seem more disturbed about the death, and/or humane treatment of animals than people?
6) What have you achieved since you started blogging that you never dreamed and what do you hope to do next?
7) If you could live in any book, which book would it be?
8) What caused your love of reading, writing and discussing books?
9) Have you had a chance to meet any authors? If so, what is your favorite story (pics if you have them). If not, who do you want to meet?
10) Do you read only one genre or a mix?
11) Without spoilers: Avengers or Game of Thrones or Both or Who the hell cares… you are all crazy or I have obviously been living under a rock because I don’t even know what the hell you are talking about.
I Further Nominate:
I just nominated 11 people for the Leibster award and I don’t think they have recovered. So I am leaving this one open to all you beautiful people complete as you see fit!
I hope you guys liked my answers. Thank you once again, Su for the nomination! It was really fun answering these questions as well as coming up with the new ones.
